The DL insert is a large flange, splined, bubbling insert in aluminum or steel construction offered in a wide variety of standard and metric thread sizes. Bubbling means that during the installation process, the insert collapses into a bubble shape on the backside of the application material. The application material is clamped between the flange of the insert and the bubble shape resulting in high resistance to pull-out loads.

For Wide Flange order DLS series, for small flange order DKS series.

The bubble also serves as a load bearing surface, which absorbs the force of setting the insert. Otherwise the setting force, or clamp load, could spread into the application material and might damage the material. This makes the DL insert ideal for use in thin sheet, soft, brittle and low strength materials.

The splined body of the DL insert press into the application material during the installation process. Splined inserts are 50% less likely to turn in the application hole compared to plain body inserts. Splined inserts are ideal for soft materials such as aluminium, magnesium and plastics, where plain body inserts might otherwise fail. The splines also improve electrical continuity in sheet metal applications and electrical assemblies. The large flange of the DL insert provides a large load bearing surface, reinforces the application hole and prevents push through making it ideal for load bearing applications in thin sheet and soft material applications.
